Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

17 Dec 10 - Diplomats of AU Peace and Security Council visit Darfur

17 December 2010 - UNAMID today received at its headquarters in El Fasher, North Darfur, ambassadors and representatives from the African Union Peace and Security Council, for a one-day field visit.

After a briefing by UNAMID senior officials, the envoys travelled to Kabkabiya, located approximately 140km west of El Fasher, where they overviewed of the Mission’s activities in the area and met with local authorities.
