The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

15 September 2010 - The West Darfur High-Level Committee on Farm Protection yesterday called for a state-wide initiative to bolster food security during the coming harvest season.

The meeting, held in El Geneina, was attended by representatives from UNAMID, the UN Country Team and local authorities, and was chaired by the State Wali. Participants discussed ways to provide security and farm protection, reduce crop destruction and encourage the voluntary return of displaced populations. The committee members also agreed on regular meetings during the coming harvest season.
