The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

15 Jun 11 - Movement restriction on aid workers lifted in South Darfur

15 June 2011 - South Darfur authorities have officially lifted restriction on the movement of aid workers in the state. UNAMID is currently providing escorts for several humanitarian convoys from Nyala to Kass, El Dain and Khor Abeche.

Restrictions on operations of all humanitarian actors in the state beyond a 15-kilometer radius of Nyala have been in place since 17 May by authorities citing ongoing military operations and security threats. Several metric tons of aid are to be delivered in the coming days.
