The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

11 November 2010 - Under Secretary-General for Peacekeeping, Alain Le Roy today concluded his three-day visit to Darfur, where he met senior UNAMID and government officials, assessed the security situation and was appraised on the implementation of the Mission’s mandate.

During USG Le Roy’s meeting with government officials in Nyala, South Darfur, the Deputy Wali, Mr. Abdul Kareem Musa Abdul Kareem reaffirmed his government’s commitment and support to the work of the Mission.
