Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

08 Aug 11 - Humanitarian mission to West Jebel Marra

8 August 2011 - An inter-agency mission with the participation of UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, UNICEF, UNHCR, World Health Organization, Food and Agricultural Organization, Danish Refugee Council and UNAMID departed on 7 August from Zalingei to West Jebel Marra.

The aim of the operation was to deliver humanitarian assistance, especially plastic shelters, medical supplies and water rollers, as well as to assess the situation on the ground. During the week, the team will cover the villages of Nertiti, Kutrum, Kiwilla, Thur, Golo and Killin.
