Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

07 Apr 11 - Canadian delegation concludes Darfur visit

07 April 2011 - A Canadian delegation led by the Chargé d'affaires of the Canadian Embassy in Sudan Laurent Charette today concluded in Nyala, South Darfur, a one-week visit to UNAMID regional offices in the three Darfur states.

The team conferred with Mission’s leadership and with the Formed Police Units that have received support from Canada, and assessed the utility of its contribution to the overall operations of UNAMID.
