Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

06 Oct 11 - UNAMID to intensify patrols around IDP camps in West Darfur

6 October 2011 - UNAMID peacekeepers stationed in Nertiti, West Darfur, will intensify patrols around Arkis and Habad East internally displaced persons camps after receiving information about harassment of the local population by unidentified armed personnel. Reportedly, there are casualties among civilians and freedom of movement is severely restricted.
