The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

06 October 2010 - UNAMID and the UN Country Team attended yesterday the regular High-Level Committee on Farm Protection of West Darfur at the office of the state Wali in El-Geneina. Also present at the meeting were several representatives of the Legislative Council of West Darfur, Military intelligence, Sudanese Police, Farmers Union and Pastoralist Union. A consolidated proposal to coordinate activities on crop protection at all stages of cultivation throughout the region was discussed.

The Mission will support the project by providing 245 barrels of fuel for the sensitization tour of the committee within the State, documentation of peaceful agreement between tribal communities and publicity.
