Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

04 May 11 - UNAMID increases school capacity in Nyala

04 May 2011 - UNAMID handed over today four newly-built classrooms and two offices in Aamal Basic School in Nyala, South Darfur, to the State Minister of Education. The project, financed by UNAMID’s Quick Impact Projects initiative and implemented by the local NGO Alajial Organization for Maternity and Childhood, increases from three to seven the school’s classrooms and will reduce the number of students in each room, facilitating the task of the teachers. These new facilities will benefit 668 students.
