Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

04 Apr 11 - UNAMID to verify separate incidents in North Darfur

04 April 2011 - A verification team has also been dispatched to Hashaba, located 43 km northeast of Kutum in North Darfur, after reports of air strikes on 2 April. The Mission has also been actively monitoring tribal tensions in Hashaba where a dispute over livestock theft escalated and led to an unconfirmed number of casualties. UNAMID Civil Affairs will also support reconciliation efforts by local leaders.
