IOM staff released in South Darfur
25 July 2014 A staff member with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Mr. Felix Ngoma, who was abducted in Nyala, South Darfur, on 6 July 2014, was freed today after 20 days in captivity.

19 July 2014 – Three Sudanese humanitarian workers abducted in Kutum, North Darfur, on 18 June 2014, were freed today in the same locality after 32 days in captivity.

Addis Ababa, 11 July 2014 —African Union-United Nations Joint Special Representative (JSR) for Darfur and Chief mediator, Mohamed Ibn Chambas, briefed on 9 July the African Union; Peace and Security Council (AUPSC) on the recent developments in Darfur, the mediation efforts and the implementation of the strategic review of UNAMID.

13 June 2014 - An international contractor working at UNAMID, Mr. Irfan Jaffery, abducted in El Fasher, North Darfur, on 11 March, was freed yesterday  in Kabkabiya, after 94 days in captivity.

5 June 2014 - More than 250 representatives of the Beni Hussein and Abbala tribes gathered in Kabkabiya, North Darfur, for a two-day reconciliation meeting set up to address outstanding issues between them and diffuse tensions in the area.

UNAMID celebrates International Day of Peacekeeping
29 May 2014 – Peacekeepers from the African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) today celebrated the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers in El Fasher, North Darfur. Held under the theme ‘A force for peace, a force for change, and a force for the future,’ the event was attended by UNAMID Joint Special Representative (JSR), Mohamed Ibn Chambas, the Deputy Wali (Governor) of North Darfur, Al Fatih Abdulaziz, along with military, police and civilian personnel from UNAMID and the Government of Sudan police officials.

Darfur Internal Dialogue and Consultation Implementation Committee launched in El Fasher
The Darfur Internal Dialogue and Consultation (DIDC) Implementation Committee was launched on 26 May 2014 in a ceremony hosted by the African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) in El Fasher, North Darfur.
