Statement by the Trilateral Mechanism Statement on 24 hour ceasefire

The Trilateral Mechanism (AU-IGAD-UN) notes the commitment by the Sudanese Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces to implement a ceasefire for 24 hours effective from 6:00 pm today to 6:00 pm tomorrow.

The Trilateral Mechanism appeals to all sides to create necessary conditions during this period for the civilians to seek safe shelter, food and medical care.

The Trilateral Mechanism (AU-IGAD-UN) continues to stress the need for an immediate and permanent cessation of hostilities to spare innocent civilians in Sudan from any further violence, and will continue to work towards this in coordination with Sudanese stakeholders, the Quad, and the European Union.
