20 July; UNAMID’s Communications and Public Information Section, in partnership with the Central Darfur Disabled Union, belatedly marked Nelson Mandela International Day. The Day was observed through the conduct of a COVID-19 awareness session(pictured)including the 67-minute community service involving the cleaning and painting of the Headquarters of the Disabled Union in Zalingei, Central Darfur. In his message on the day, the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres said: “We mark this Day at a time when the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic endangers everyone, everywhere, and especially the most vulnerable".
