On 14 September 2017, UNAMID Joint Special Representative, Jeremiah Mamabolo, briefed the United Nations Security Council in New York about the situation in Darfur. Mr. Mamabolo said that the Mission is in phase one of its reconfiguration, with four team sites closed in North and East Darfur, and seven more to be closed by the end of September.  Mr. Mamabolo also said that the region has remained largely calm in the past few months.
