17 February; Officer-in Charge of UNAMID, Mr. M’Baye Babacar Cissé (extreme left) accompanied by the Mission Chief of Staff, Mr. Luke Mhlaba and Director of Mission Support Division, Mr. Houston Fergusson and UNAMID senior staff met with the Wali (Governor) of Central Darfur State, Mr. Adeeb Abdulrahman Yousif (center) at the latter’s office in Zalingei, Central Darfur. During the meeting, they discussed issues related to the Mission’s drawdown and cooperation with the Government of Sudan and the local authorities for a smooth and successful handover of the Mission’s Team Sites and assets before its exit from Darfur as mandated by the UN Security Council Resolution 2559 (2020) which terminated UNAMID mandate as of 31 December 2020.
