On 12 March 2019, a joint African Union-United Nations Strategic Assessment Team on UNAMID visited Nylala, South Darfur, where they met with the Wali (Governor) Lieutenant General Ahmed Ali Abushanab and his delegation. The meeting discussed issues related to UNAMID’s ongoing reconfiguration and eventual exit from Darfur in June 2020 as mandated by the UN Security Council Resolution 2429 (2018).
