On 7 October 2019, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Mr. Jean-Pierre Lacroix and the African Union Commissioner for Peace and Security, Mr. Smail Chergui held the 27th Tripartite Coordination Mechanism on UNAMID meeting comprising the African Union, United Nations and Government of Sudan in Sudan's capital, Khartoum. The meeting discussed the Mission’s ongoing drawdown and transition and took note of the AU-UN joint political strategy on Darfur peace process in the context of Sudan's transition.
