6 May; UNAMID officially handed over its former Headquarters in Zalingei, Central Darfur to the Government of Sudan, in the presence of the Wali of Central Darfur, representatives from the Government’s Joint Taskforce, local officials, Zalingei University and UNAMID staff. The handover is part of the Mission’s drawdown plan in line with the UN Security Council Resolution 2559 (2020) which terminated UNAMID mandate as of 31 December 2020. The handover documents were signed by Mr. M’Baye Babacar Cissé, Assistant Secretary-General, on behalf of UNAMID and Dr. Adeeb Abdulrahman, the Governor (Wali) of Central Darfur State, signed on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Sudan.
