2 March; Under-Secretary General for the Department of Operational Support, Mr. Atul Khare (extreme left), accompanied by Officer-In Charge of UNAMID, Mr. M’Baye Babacar, met with the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council of Sudan, Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan at the latter’s office in the Presidential Palace in Khartoum, Sudan. They discussed the Mission’s drawdown and cooperation with the Government of Sudan and the local authorities to facilitate smooth and successful drawdown and liquidation processes before UNAMID’s exit from Darfur, as mandated by the UN Security Council Resolution 2559 (2020) which terminated the Mission’s mandate as of 31 December 2020.
