2 February 2012 - UNAMID Deputy Joint Special Representative – Political (DJSR-P), Aïchatou Mindaoudou Souleymane, announced today in Kuma Garadayat, North Darfur, the launch of nine development projects - commonly known as Quick Impact Projects - in the areas of education, sanitation, health, community development and women empowerment.
1 February 2012 - UNAMID peacekeepers recovered yesterday five trucks belonging to the World Food Programme (WFP) which were forcibly seized by unknown people. The convoy was captured on 30 January 2012 between Saraf Umra and Kabkabiya in North Darfur.
30 January 2012 - Reviewing UNAMID’s activities in the area of justice and security, and discussing the implementation of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD), were among the priorities of the UN Assistant Secretary-General (ASG) of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations for the Rule of Law and Security Institutions, Dmitry Titov, who began his six day visit to Sudan on 24 January.
25 January 2012 – Listening to the concerns of local stakeholders across Darfur and engaging them in the peace process was the focus of African Union – United Nations Joint Special Representative (JSR) Ibrahim Gambari over the past week.
22 January 2012- African Union-United Nations Joint Special Representative (JSR) Ibrahim Gambari met today with the leadership of all the internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in the Zalingei corridor of the new Central Darfur state and urged them to “leave the past behind and look to the future.” He added “You cannot make peace if you are friends, you make peace if you are enemies. This is a chance for peace in Darfur which we should not let slip away from us.”
21 January 2012 – An African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) patrol was ambushed today by unidentified armed persons in East Darfur. As a result, one peacekeeper was killed and three others wounded.
19 January 2012 - During his first encounter with representatives of the community from Kassab and Fataborno internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Kutum, North Darfur, African Union-United Nations Joint Special Representative Ibrahim Gambari reaffirmed UNAMID's continued commitment to implement its core mandate and support the peace process.

18 January 2012 - Darfur is closer to a comprehensive peace than it has ever been, the head of the African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) told some 1,000 peacekeeping staff in his first town hall meeting of 2012.
18 January 2012 - Dissemination workshops for the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) began today among North Darfur’s communities. The exercise is organized by the Civil Society Follow-up Mechanism, an instrument created to liaise with the civil society organizations on the Doha peace process, and supported logistically and technically by UNAMID.
16 January 2012-The Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) Implementation Follow-up Commission (IFC) held its second meeting on 16 January 2012,at the UNAMID Headquarters in El Fasher.The meeting was chaired by Ahmed Bin Abdulla Al Mahmoud, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs of the State of Qatar, and was attended by representatives of Canada, the Republic of Chad, the People’s Republic of China, Egypt, France,Japan, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom, the United States, the African Union, the European Union, the League of Arab States, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the former AU-UN Joint Chief Mediator for Darfur, Djibril Bassole.
15 January 2012 – The head of the Darfur Regional Authority (DRA) established under the terms of a peace agreement to end conflict in the Sudanese region said implementation of the deal was firmly on track and the DRA will give priority to rolling out development projects that would encourage the return of displaced people.
