UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

    This programme features drums in Darfur. Drums vary in Darfur from one tribe to another, and also different occasions that are used , in this episode we recognize some of them. 

     

  • Yalla Nebni Darfur, Vol 2.6, April 2018: Attitude of daughter's husband in his aunt's house, culture of Darfur

    In this programme you will hear about attitude of daughter's husband in his aunt's house, culture of Darfur, the residence of the daughter's husband in his uncle's house, and how culture and literature in Darfur look at the behavior of the daughter's husband and the changes that have occurred over time.   

     

  • Voice of Children, Vol 2.5, April 2018: with mixed feelings children participate in official independence day of Sudan.

    In this programme you will hear about children from Maliet in North participate in the January 1st which marks the official independence day of Sudan when the nation first raised its official flag in 1956. But the celebrations this year are being approached with mixed feelings looking forward to have a lasting peace in Darfur.

  • Yalla Nebni Darfur, Vol 2.4, April 2018: Girls education in Darfur.

    In this programme you will hear about girls education in Darfur. Too often, girls are kept from school to herd animals or do household chores. Others are married off at a very early age. The student body at Qud al Haboob school in Nyala, South Darfur, Sudan, is an important exception to the rule.

     

  • Yalla Nebni Darfur, Vol 2.3, April 2018: UNAMID Supports local police in Darfur.

    In this programme you will hear about UNAMID’s police build and support where mandated, act as a substitute or partial substitute for host-State police capacity to prevent and detect crime, protect life and property and maintain public order and safety in adherence to the rule of law and international human rights law in Darfur.

  • Voice of Children, Vol 2.2, April 2018: With mixed feelings children participate in official independence day of Sudan-repeat.

    In this programme you will hear about UNAMID's Road Safety in Darfur is to reduce road crash deaths and injuries. Road Safety  in Darfur is a response to United Nation's Decade of Action for Road Safety. It is one of the initiatives of Federal Road Safety Commission of Sudan to promote safety on our roads.

  • Yall Nebni Darfur, Vol 2.11, March 2018: Health consequences of child marriage in Darfur

    In this programme you will hear about health consequences of child marriage in Darfur. Despite international agreements and national laws, marriage of girls  under 18 years of age is common in Darfur, it has affected hundreds of girls.  Child marriage is a human rights violation that prevents girls from obtaining an education, enjoying optimal health.

  • Yall Nebni Darfur, Vol 2.10, February 2018: Darfuri girl - Steps to a healthy pregnancy

    In this programme you will hear about steps to be taken by Darfuri women during pregnancy,  it provides evidence-based population health advice for pregnant women on healthy diet and being physically active.
