As we all know, Ramadan is a month of worship, reflection and reconciliation; where the basic tenets of tolerance and forgiveness are integral to the practice of fasting.
  • 01 May 2019 - El-Daien, 01 May 2019 – On 30 April 2019, the African Union – United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) concluded the closure and handover of its sector headquarters in El Daien to the State Government of East Darfur.  
  • 21 Apr 2019 - Zalingei, 18 April 2019 – The African Union – United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) strongly condemns recent violent confrontations between two rival youth groups in Kalma Camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in South Darfur state, which occurred on 13 April 2019. These confrontations reportedly resulted in the killing of 16 people including a humanitarian field worker, with 17 injured and a significant number of IDPs displaced.

  • 12 Feb 2019 - Khartoum - On 12 February 2019, the Assistant Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Bintou Keita; the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations Development Programme, Mourad Wahba; and the Assistant Secretary-General for Peacebuilding Support, Oscar Fernandez-Taranco concluded a three-day visit to Sudan.
  • 22 Jan 2019 - On 22 January 2019, The African Union - United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) Joint Special Representative (JSR) Jeremiah Mamabolo and the Wali (Governor) of Central Darfur State, Mohammad Ahmed Jadelsid officially inaugurated the new Mission Headquarters (HQ) in Zalingei, Central Darfur. The new HQ has been operational since October 2018, when key Mission components were relocated there from El-Fasher.
  • 29 Dec 2018 - The Secretary-General is following with concern developments in the Republic of Sudan, including the reported violence and fatalities. He appeals for calm and restraint and calls on the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the deaths and violence. He extends his condolences to all those who have lost loved ones in the violence.    The Secretary-General emphasizes the need to safeguard freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.

  • 20 Dec 2018 -   El Fasher, 20 December 2018 – The African Union – United Nation Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) today concluded the closure and handover of 10 team sites to the Government of Sudan, with Graida team site in South Darfur being the last to be handed over.    
  • 10 Dec 2018 - Khartoum, 09 December 2018The 14th meeting of the Implementation Follow-up Commission (IFC) of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) was held today in Khartoum, Sudan.
